Parallel processing of SBS-format microplates happens through a vacuum-driven flow path on this QIAGEN benchtop manifold. The unit stacks three functional layers: an upper plate holder that accepts standard microplates, a silicone gasket that forms a vacuum-tight seal when the latch is closed, and a lower waste reservoir that collects flow-through.
Connected to an external vacuum pump, the system normally operates in the -300 to -600 mbar range, delivering consistent negative pressure across all positions so binding, washing, and elution steps complete together without manual intervention. The manifold is a standard accessory for high-throughput nucleic acid workflows such as QIAamp and RNeasy plate-based kits, where it replaces centrifugation for buffer exchange and eluate recovery. Used with compatible vacuum pumps and waste bottles, individual strips or columns can be transferred out of the manifold while vacuum is held on the remaining wells, supporting staggered processing.
The stainless steel and solvent-resistant polymer components tolerate common decontamination routines, including autoclaving of the waste tray and plate holder. Application notes, protocols, and replacement parts are available directly from QIAGEN.
