EZ1 Advanced XL

An automated nucleic acid isolation and purification system from QIAGEN, the EZ1 Advanced XL, designed for use only in combination with QIAGEN kits indicated for the instrument and the applications described in the kit handbooks. The system is intended for professional users, such as technicians and physicians trained in molecular biological techniques and the operation of the system.

Classified as a clinical sample concentrator, the device is manufactured by Qiagen Sciences LLC based in Germantown, Maryland. In July 2018 the manufacturer issued a field action addressing an issue with the power branching printed circuit board (PCB) that had the potential to trigger a heater malfunction; if such a failure occurred, nucleic acid extractions could be compromised and require repetition, potentially delaying downstream results.

The instrument supports DNA/RNA workflows and has been procured alongside related consumables including Buffer G2, Buffer ATL, Buffer MTL, and Proteinase K for laboratory use.
