Rotor-Gene Q 6plex System

From QIAGEN, this real-time PCR cycler features an optical system with up to 6 channels spanning UV to infra-red wavelengths, using high-energy light-emitting diodes as excitation sources and a photomultiplier detector with an acquisition time of 4 s. The six detection channels are blue, green, yellow, orange, red, and crimson.

Main applications include gene expression analysis, microRNA detection, virus detection, SNP genotyping, and High Resolution Melt (HRM) analysis. The instrument supports up to 100 samples per run using a Rotor-Disc 100, with compatible formats including 0.2 ml tubes, 0.1 ml 4-tube strip tubes, Rotor-Disc 72, and Rotor-Disc 100. Thermal performance covers a range of 35 to 99ºC, with accuracy of ±0.5ºC (measured 30 seconds after clock start), resolution of ±0.02ºC, and uniformity of ±0.02ºC. A typical run is 40 cycles in 45 min (assay dependent).

System control is provided by Q-Rex Software, supplied on the installation CD. The package includes a laptop computer, software, and accessories, with 1-year warranty on parts and labor plus installation and training. The standard configuration weighs 12.5 kg (27.6 lb.). Power requirements are 100–240 V AC, 50–60 Hz, with peak consumption <520 VA and standby <60 VA. The instrument carries a 1-year warranty with a lifetime guarantee on the excitation LEDs. Standard dimensions are 37 cm wide (14.6 in.), 28.6 cm high (11.3 in.), and 42 cm deep (16.5 in.) without cables, or 53.8 cm (21.2 in.) with the door open.
