QIAxpert

The QIAGEN QIAxpert is a rapid microvolume microfluidic UV/VIS spectrophotometer designed for nucleic acid and protein quantification in laboratory workflows [S3]. It employs an ultrasensitive photodiode array optical principle with a UV/VIS polychromatic system plus reference channel, delivering fast measurements with minimal sample volume and supporting batch sample handling for streamlined sample QC [S1][S3].

The system operates across a wavelength range of 230–750 nm with a wavelength accuracy of ≤0.2 nm, wavelength reproducibility of 0.1 nm, and wavelength resolution of <3 nm, using a xenon flash lamp as its light source [S1]. Its path length is 0.5 mm, with a photometric range of 0.0005–2.0 OD, a measurement range (10 mm equivalent) of 0.03–40 OD, absorbance accuracy of 4% (0.66 OD at 350 nm), and absorbance precision of 0.001 OD [S1].

A recommended sample quantity of 2 µl yields a concentration range of 1.5 ng/µl up to 2000 ng/µl dsDNA using the A260 dsDNA application, with measurement time of approximately 2 minutes for a fully loaded slide and a maximum sample residence time of 2 hours [S1]. The instrument processes 1–16 samples per run (blanks included) and outputs data via USB, TCP/IP or QR code through on-board software [S1]. The unit measures (W) 23 x (D) 28 x (H) 30 cm, weighs 9 kg, and runs on 100–240 V, 50/60Hz power (operating voltage 24 VDC) [S1].
