A vacuum manifold top assembly designed for parallel processing of multiwell filter plates during nucleic acid purification workflows, the QIAvac Multiwell Top converts a standard QIAGEN vacuum manifold into a multiwell processing station. The top accepts silica-membrane filter plates and other QIAGEN multiwell plates used in high-throughput DNA, RNA, and viral nucleic acid extraction.

The top features a precision-cut silicone gasket that seats firmly against the rim of a filter plate, forming a tight vacuum seal when the manifold's locking frame is closed. A central vacuum port connects to the laboratory's vacuum source, drawing buffer, wash solutions, and ethanol through each well of the plate simultaneously. Transparent acrylic construction lets operators confirm uniform flow and complete drainage, while the top-piece design leaves the controller and waste tray of the underlying QIAGEN manifold unchanged.

Typical applications include high-throughput RNA isolation from cultured cells or tissue lysates, viral DNA extraction from clinical specimens, and PCR clean-up prior to downstream sequencing or genotyping. The Multiwell Top supports sample volumes of approximately 200 µL per well during lysate loading, and the system operates at room temperature with aqueous buffers and ethanol washes. Each top is supplied as a single unit packed in a protective foam-inserted box, with a replaceable silicone gasket for long-term service in a busy sample-preparation laboratory.
