From QIAGEN, this benchtop real-time PCR thermal cycler operates on 230V European mains power and is configured around a 96-position thermal block with two fluorescence channels per well. The 2plex capability lets laboratories quantify a target and an internal control together in a single reaction, reducing reagent use and run-to-run variability for gene expression profiling, viral load quantification, SNP genotyping, GMO screening, and veterinary pathogen detection.

Optical detection is LED-based, with paired excitation and emission filters covering the two channels. Run setup, amplification curves, melt curves, and allelic discrimination plots are managed through the bundled software suite, which supports absolute quantification from external standard curves, relative expression via the ΔΔCt method, and end-point genotyping calls. Data export to common spreadsheet and LIMS-compatible formats enables handoff to downstream laboratory information systems.

Sample volume is typically 20 µl per reaction, run in individual tubes, strips, or plates. Gradient programming across the block span lets users test a range of annealing temperatures simultaneously, which shortens the optimization cycle when validating new primer pairs.

Typical work on the instrument covers nucleic acid quantification from extracted DNA or RNA, copy number variation studies, microbial typing, detection of foodborne pathogens, and gene expression profiling in cell culture systems and in vivo-derived tissues. All applications on the platform are designated research use only.

Installation, operator training, and preventive maintenance are arranged through QIAGEN service contracts. The system is intended for laboratories that need moderate-throughput, two-target multiplex qPCR without the workflow overhead of higher-channel instruments.
