Built for two-target molecular workflows in routine and translational laboratories, the QIAquant 96 2plex (230V) from QIAGEN is a benchtop real-time PCR thermal cycler that pairs a gold-plated silver block with dual-channel optical detection. The 96-well sample block accepts standard PCR plates, eight-tube strips, and individual vessels, accommodating sample volumes from 5 to 100 µl, with 10 to 80 µl recommended for cycling performance.

Thermal performance delivers maximum heating rates of 8°C/s and cooling rates of 6°C/s, with average values of 7°C/s and 5.5°C/s respectively. Block uniformity is held to ±0.15°C at 55°C, ±0.25°C at 72°C, and ±0.50°C at 95°C across the 4–99°C operating range, while a 40°C gradient spans 12 columns for annealing optimization during assay development. The motorized heated lid operates between 30 and 110°C to prevent condensate formation.

A 7-inch touchscreen paired with Q-Rex software delivers pre-programmed protocols for relative and absolute quantification, allelic discrimination, pathogen detection, and high-resolution melt analysis. USB export and LIMS-compatible file output support regulated environments, and the instrument is intended for research use only. Common deployments include SARS-CoV-2 surveillance, residual DNA testing in biomanufacturing, GMO screening in food and feed, and gene expression studies.
