This compact benchtop thermal cycler from QIAGEN delivers duplex real-time PCR quantification for research and molecular diagnostic workflows. The Peltier-driven silver sample block carries a gold coating and pairs LED excitation with a photomultiplier detector to record fluorescence across two target dye channels plus a passive reference, supporting assays such as gene expression analysis with an endogenous control, SNP genotyping, pathogen detection, and viral load studies on a single plate. Supported reaction volumes range from 5 to 100 µl, with 10 to 80 µl recommended; common setups use 20 µl. The heated lid operates from 30 to 110 °C to suppress condensation, while the block achieves a maximum heating rate of 8 °C/s and an average of 7 °C/s.

Gradient optimization across a 40 °C span aids primer annealing studies, and automatic ramp-rate adjustment shortens protocols when chemistry permits. The integrated touchscreen supports plate editing, while the accompanying QIAquant software performs absolute quantification, relative quantification with reference gene normalization, melt curve analysis, allelic discrimination, and presence/absence calling. Completed runs are stored locally for audit and reporting, and amplification curves can be monitored continuously throughout cycling. The 115 V power configuration matches North American and Japanese outlet standards, and the open platform accepts QIAGEN master mixes such as QuantiNova and QuantiTect alongside user-supplied probe-based or intercalating dye chemistries for in vitro research use only applications.
