High-throughput real-time quantitative PCR runs in a 384-well plate format, with five-color multiplex optical readout handled by this thermal cycling platform from QIAGEN. The QIAquant 384 5plex instrument delivers simultaneous detection of up to five targets per well across decadic color channels covering the FAM, HEX, ROX, Cy5, and Quasar 670 spectral ranges, supporting gene expression analysis, SNP genotyping, copy number variation studies, pathogen detection, and viral load quantification in research laboratories.

Key operational attributes include a 4 to 100 degrees C thermal block range with block uniformity around +/-0.1 degrees C across wells, gradient capability across all 24 columns for annealing temperature optimization, and adjustable ramp rates compatible with both standard and fast cycling chemistries. The 115V power configuration is sized for North American laboratory installations. SBS-format 384-well plates and standard optical seal films are supported, with reaction volumes typically between 5 and 20 microliters per well depending on the chosen plate, seal, and tube.

The system integrates an onboard touchscreen controller and runs QIAGEN qPCR analysis software for cycle-by-cycle signal processing, melt curve evaluation, and Cq-based relative quantification. Touchdown and incremental step-down cycling protocols, along with high-resolution melt analysis options, extend the platform beyond standard quantitation into genotyping and mutation scanning. Network connectivity permits LIMS-compatible data export for regulated and core facility environments. Research use only.
