Gravity-flow anion-exchange tips from QIAGEN form part of the company's plasmid DNA purification system, designed for isolating transfection-grade plasmid DNA at the mini scale. The tips employ manual gravity-flow processing with anion-exchange technology, handling one sample per run from a 3–10 ml starting culture volume, completing a run in approximately 80 min with a yield of up to 20 µg of high-copy plasmid DNA.

The prepacked tips operate by gravity flow and use an anion-exchange resin developed exclusively for the purification of nucleic acids, delivering DNA purity equivalent or superior to that obtained by two successive rounds of CsCl gradient centrifugation, while avoiding toxic substances such as phenol, chloroform, ethidium bromide, and CsCl. Plasmid DNA prepared is highly suitable for applications including transfection, cloning, sequencing, and capillary sequencing, and the system supports high-copy, low-copy, and cosmid DNA.
