An anion-exchange tip from QIAGEN, supplied as a round white column, designed for gravity-flow purification of transfection-grade plasmid DNA. Part of the QIAGEN Plasmid Kits family, the prepacked tip uses an anion-exchange resin developed exclusively for the purification of nucleic acids.

Operation is manual by gravity flow and the tip never runs dry, keeping hands-on time to a minimum. Each tip processes 1 sample per run from a culture volume of 25–100 ml, with a run time of 150 min, delivering up to 100 µg of high-copy plasmid DNA. Lysate clearing and isopropanol precipitation are achieved by centrifugation. The tip supports high-copy, low-copy, and cosmid DNA.

Purity is equivalent or superior to that obtained by two successive rounds of CsCl gradient centrifugation, achieved without the use of phenol, chloroform, ethidium bromide, or CsCl. Plasmid DNA prepared this way is suitable for transfection, cloning, sequencing, capillary sequencing, and in vitro transcription.
