The QIAGEN brand provides prepacked gravity-flow, anion-exchange tips for the purification of transfection-grade plasmid DNA. Engineered for large-scale preparations, this format supports culture volumes of 2.5–5 liters and yields up to 10 mg of high-copy plasmid DNA per run, with a run time of 320 min. The tip accommodates high-copy, low-copy, and cosmid DNA, processing one sample per run on a manual gravity-flow workflow. Lysate clearing and isopropanol precipitation are achieved by centrifugation.

The unique anion-exchange resin is developed exclusively for nucleic acid purification, delivering DNA purity equivalent or superior to that obtained by two successive rounds of CsCl gradient centrifugation. The system avoids toxic substances such as phenol, chloroform, ethidium bromide, and CsCl, reducing hazard both to the user and the environment. The prepacked tips operate by gravity flow and never run dry, minimizing the hands-on time required for plasmid preparation.

Plasmid DNA purified using these tips is highly suitable for applications including transfection, cloning, sequencing, and capillary sequencing.
