Automated benchtop workstations from QIAGEN handle full column-based sample preparation with minimal manual intervention, and the QIAcube Connect Red system variant is configured as a complete ready-to-run package for genomics, transcriptomics, and protein research laboratories. The instrument accepts QIAGEN spin-column cartridges from DNeasy, RNeasy, QIAamp, QIAquick, MinElute, and Plasmid kits, transferring established centrifuge-based protocols onto a single platform that runs lysis, binding, washing, drying, and elution steps without operator intervention.

Up to 12 samples can be processed in a single run, with an integrated touchscreen used to launch pre-validated protocols, edit user programs, or import protocols transferred from earlier QIAcube instruments. A built-in refrigerated rotor capable of speeds up to 12000 rpm, a heated lid that reaches 65 °C, and an integrated vortex shaker cover the temperature and mixing requirements of standard purification chemistries, while an onboard barcode scanner reads kit and sample identifiers to maintain chain-of-custody records.

Connectivity is the defining feature: native networking through QIAsphere lets users launch cycles, monitor progress, and export run logs from any networked workstation, supporting remote supervision of unattended runs. The sealed rotor design reduces aerosol exposure during spins, and the system delivers purified template suited to downstream PCR, sequencing, electrophoresis, cloning, and cell-based applications. Maintenance is prompted on-screen with guided decontamination cycles, and the unit is engineered for research use only in molecular biology laboratories handling sensitive downstream assays.
