QIAcube Connect Device

QIAGEN's QIAcube Connect is a fully automated instrument designed for nucleic acid and protein purification using QIAGEN spin-column kits. It automates the lyse, bind, wash and elute steps of more than 80 QIAGEN spin-column kits, with no change of chemistry compared to the manual procedure, allowing fast startup and performance comparable to manual spin-preps.

The instrument integrates a centrifuge (up to 10,640 rpm, 12,000 x g, swing-out rotor with 12 positions), a heated shaker (100–2000 rpm, ambient to 70°C), a pipetting system (1 ml syringe, 5–900 µl range), and a robotic gripper. Up to 12 samples can be processed in a single run. A 10.4" TFT touchscreen with 800×600 SVGA resolution simplifies protocol selection. The worktable is illuminated for easier sample loading, and built-in UV light (wavelength 278 nm) supports decontamination between runs. A handheld barcode scanner tracks samples and kit information. The instrument is QIAsphere-ready, enabling remote monitoring of run status, push notifications, and run report management from anywhere.

Pre-installed protocols cover purification of RNA, genomic DNA, plasmid DNA, viral nucleic acids and proteins, plus DNA and RNA cleanup. Dedicated kits include rotor-adapters pre-loaded with spin columns and elution tubes so they are ready to use out of the box. The instrument weighs 71.5 kg (accessories 3 kg), and with the hood closed measures 65 cm wide × 58 cm high × 62 cm deep.
