Corning CoolCell LX Container, Purple

This reusable, color-coded freezing container, manufactured by Corning and distributed by STEMCELL Technologies, supports alcohol-free, standardized freezing for most cell types. Its polyethylene foam construction is non-absorbent and enables uniform freezing, while a solid thermo-conductive core helps the device eliminate the need for specialized programmable freezers when used in a mechanical -80°C freezer.

When paired with a -80°C freezer, the container provides reproducible freezing at the rate of -1°C/minute, which is ideal for the cryopreservation of most cells and cell lines. Each unit holds 12 standard 1–2 mL cryogenic vials and features a diameter of 11.7 cm, a height of 9.9 cm, and a well diameter of 12.7 mm. The container is simple to label and organize by color, and is suited to routine cryopreservation workflows and repeated laboratory use.

Recommended storage is at 15–25°C, and the product is for research use only.
