Description
A cationic dye from the manufacturer STEMCELL Technologies becomes sequestered in active mitochondria and is used to measure mitochondrial membrane potential. The manufacturer notes that TMRE (Perchlorate) is not retained in apoptotic cells, as demonstrated by flow cytometry analysis of Jurkat cells labeled with the dye after incubation in the presence or absence of staurosporine, an inducer of apoptosis.
