RoboSep Tip Head Polishing Compound

This fine-abrasive cleaning solution from STEMCELL Technologies is formulated for routine upkeep of the silver metal tip head on RoboSep and RoboSep-S fully automated cell separators. Over time, repeated loading and unloading of disposable pipette tips leaves a thin plastic film on the contact face, which interferes with the stripper mechanism; a weekly polish with this compound restores a flat, uniform surface so pipette tips release cleanly at the end of every immunomagnetic separation run.

Application is straightforward: place 1-2 drops onto a clean non-abrasive laboratory wipe, rub across the entire tip head using a downward motion, then buff dry with a fresh wipe. The manufacturer recommends polishing at least every 10-12 separation cycles, or immediately whenever the instrument logs a tip strip failure or shows uneven column wetting during positive or negative cell selection protocols. The solution also disinfects the contact surface, supporting aseptic handling without leaving residue that could carry over into EasySep workflows.

Each unit is supplied as a single use vial that drops into the instrument's dedicated on-board storage compartment. The product is stable at 15-25°C (room temperature storage in the original sealed container), contains 70% isopropanol and TWEEN 20 as functional components, and should be kept capped between sessions to prevent moisture absorption and caking. Standard alcohol wipes and water must be avoided on the tip head because they actively promote tip strip errors; only this designated polishing compound should be applied to maintain reliable tip pickup and stripping performance.
