Taq PCR Core Kit (1000)

Designed for standard and specialized PCR applications with minimal optimization, this core kit from QIAGEN includes a recombinant Taq DNA Polymerase originally isolated from Thermus aquaticus and expressed in E. coli. The enzyme is supplied at 5 units/µl with an extension rate of 2–4 kb/min at 72°C. It exhibits 5'–3' exonuclease activity and adds an extra A overhang, with a half-life of 10 minutes at 97°C and 60 minutes at 94°C.

The kit is provided with QIAGEN PCR Buffer and CoralLoad PCR Buffer, both 10x concentrated and containing 15 mM MgCl2 to give a final reaction concentration of 1.5 mM. CoralLoad PCR Buffer also includes a gel-loading reagent together with orange and red tracking dyes, allowing PCR products to be loaded directly onto agarose gels without additional loading buffer. Also included are 5x Q-Solution for amplification of GC-rich or structurally complex templates, a separate 25 mM MgCl2 solution for further optimization, and an ultrapure dNTP mix. All reagents are nuclease-free.

Suitable applications include endpoint PCR, genotyping, and cloning workflows. The kit is shipped on dry ice and retains full activity at room temperature (15–25°C) for two weeks; for longer storage it should be kept at –20°C in a constant-temperature freezer.
