Taq DNA Polymerase (5000)

A recombinant DNA polymerase from QIAGEN, originally isolated from Thermus aquaticus and expressed in E. coli, delivers robust PCR performance across standard and specialized applications such as differential display and PCR-based DNA fingerprinting with minimal need for optimization. The 94 kDa enzyme is supplied at a concentration of 5 units/µl, with an extension rate of 2–4 kb/min at 72°C and a half-life of 10 minutes at 97°C.

The enzyme possesses 5'–3' exonuclease activity and adds extra adenine overhangs, while showing no 3'–5' exonuclease, nuclease, RNase, protease, or self-priming activity. Each lot is subjected to quality control tests including a stringent PCR specificity and reproducibility assay with low-copy targets amplified from human genomic DNA. The kit is supplied with QIAGEN PCR Buffer, formulated with a balanced combination of KCl and (NH4)2SO4 to deliver stringent primer-annealing conditions, together with CoralLoad PCR Buffer that incorporates a gel-loading reagent plus red and orange tracking dyes, allowing PCR products to be loaded directly onto agarose gels. Q-Solution is included as an additive to facilitate amplification of GC-rich templates or those with complex secondary structure.

The product is shipped on dry ice but retains full activity at room temperature (15–25°C) for two weeks, and should be stored at –20°C in a constant-temperature freezer until the kit expiration date. The enzyme is sold under a licensing agreement with Hoffmann-La Roche.
