Description

QIAGEN's prepacked cartridge format delivers the Strep-Tactin Superflow Plus resin for affinity purification of Strep-tagged proteins under physiological conditions. The cartridge is designed for use with fast protein liquid chromatography (FPLC) systems and other standard liquid chromatography setups, supporting both manual and automated workflows.

Strep-Tactin Superflow Plus offers a binding capacity of up to 9 mg/ml, providing roughly a 3-fold increase compared with the earlier Strep-Tactin Superflow resin. The matrix selectively captures proteins carrying the Strep-tag II epitope, an 8-amino-acid peptide with the sequence WSHPQFEK, which binds Strep-Tactin with a Kd of 1 μM—nearly 100 times higher affinity than for streptavidin. Bound protein is gently eluted using low concentrations of biotin or desthiobiotin, a stable, reversibly binding biotin analog, helping to preserve native protein structure and activity.

The cartridge is suited to protein characterization, structural studies, and functional assays from cell-lysate starting material. It is intended for molecular biology applications only and is not for use in diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease. Strep-Tactin matrices should be stored at 2–8 °C, where they remain stable for up to 6 months, and must not be frozen.
