STEMCELL Technologies supplies this rat IgM, kappa isotype control antibody, clone RTK2118, designed for use as an isotype-matched control to estimate the degree of non-specific binding by an antigen-specific antibody. According to the manufacturer, an appropriate isotype control should share the same heavy chain subclass and light chain as the specific antibody being employed; if the primary antibody is conjugated, the isotype control should be conjugated to the same molecule such as a fluorochrome. This clone has been verified for use as an isotype control for assessing non-specific binding to cells in applications such as flow cytometry and immunofluorescence microscopy, including surface and intracellular staining.
