A rat monoclonal IgM, kappa isotype control antibody from STEMCELL Technologies, conjugated to FITC (Fluorescein isothiocyanate). The RTK2118 clone is intended for use as an isotype-matched control antibody to estimate the degree of non-specific binding by an antigen-specific antibody. For best results, the isotype control should share the same heavy and light chain subclass as the specific antibody, and when the primary antibody is conjugated, the isotype control should be conjugated to the same fluorochrome.

Using an appropriate isotype control helps confirm the specificity of the antigen-specific antibody and indicates non-specific binding that may result from binding to Fc receptors or other cell components. The antibody recognizes keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) and has unknown binding specificity, having been screened on a variety of activated, resting, live, and fixed tissues from several species, including mouse, rat, human, and non-human primates. The immunogen was Trinitrophenol + KLH. Flow cytometry (FC) is the verified and reported application.
