Description

A biotin-conjugated rat monoclonal isotype control antibody from STEMCELL Technologies, clone RTK2758, is intended for use as an isotype-matched control to estimate the degree of non-specific binding by an antigen-specific antibody. The reagent carries an IgG2a, kappa isotype, matching the heavy chain subclass and light chain type of the specific antibody in use, and a biotin conjugate chosen to mirror the labelling molecule of a biotinylated specific antibody.

The RTK2758 antibody recognises keyhole limpet hemocyanin and has unknown binding specificity, having been screened on a variety of activated, resting, live, and fixed tissues from mouse, rat, human, and non-human primate species. Its immunogen is Trinitrophenol + KLH. It has been verified for use as an isotype control for assessing non-specific binding to cells in flow cytometry, with both verified and reported applications listed as FC.

The antibody is supplied in a phosphate-buffered solution at pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide, and was purified by affinity chromatography before biotin conjugation under optimal conditions; the solution is free of unconjugated biotin. The product is stable at 2 - 8 °C when stored undiluted and should not be frozen. The suggested use is at concentrations comparable to those of the specific antibody of interest, and an appropriate isotype control helps confirm antibody specificity and indicates non-specific binding that may result from interaction with Fc receptors or other cell components.
