A rat IgG2a, kappa isotype control antibody offered by STEMCELL Technologies, Clone RTK2758, conjugated to APC. It is intended for use as an isotype-matched control to estimate the degree of non-specific binding by an antigen-specific antibody, helping confirm the specificity of the primary antibody and indicating non-specific interactions such as Fc receptor binding.

The antibody is suitable for assessing non-specific binding to cells in applications including flow cytometry and immunofluorescence microscopy (both surface and intracellular staining). The manufacturer further lists related applications such as functional assays, immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation, and Western blot. Performance has been demonstrated by flow cytometry analysis of C57BL/6 mouse splenocytes, where the APC-conjugated isotype control is compared against a rat IgG2a, kappa positive control antibody. An ideal isotype control should share the same heavy chain subclass and light chain type as the specific antibody being used, and where a conjugated antibody is employed, the control should be conjugated to the same molecule.
