RNeasy UCP Micro Kit (50)

The RNeasy UCP Micro Kit from QIAGEN is designed for total RNA purification of up to 45 μg from small or low biomass samples. It uses silica-based spin column technology combined with ultra-clean production, which minimizes the risk of copurifying exogenous nucleic acids.

The kit accepts sample amounts of less than 5 mg of tissue or up to 5 × 10^5 cells, with typical run times of 30–40 minutes per preparation. Elution is carried out in an ultra-clean water volume of 10–20 µl. The procedure enriches for RNA molecules longer than 200 nucleotides, thereby selectively enriching mRNA while excluding most smaller RNAs. Traces of genomic DNA that may copurify are removed by DNase treatment directly on the spin column, and remaining contaminants are washed away using the kit's wash buffers.

Typical applications include next-generation sequencing, end-point RT-PCR, quantitative real-time RT-PCR and array analysis. Tissue samples can be stabilized with RNAprotect Tissue Reagent or Allprotect Tissue Reagent and disrupted using a TissueRuptor or TissueLyser system prior to processing.
