RNeasy PowerWater Kit (50)

From QIAGEN, this kit is designed for the isolation of total RNA from filtered water samples, including turbid water. It is suitable for environmental water types such as ocean water, fresh water, brackish water, ground water and waste water, and isolates RNA from bacteria (Gram-positive and Gram-negative), algae and fungi.

Processing combines bead beating using a 0.15 mm and 0.7 mm garnet bead mix with Inhibitor Removal Technology, recovering high-quality RNA even from samples containing high amounts of salts, metals, humic acids and other organic materials. The format uses silica spin filter tubes (MB RNA Spin Columns), and an on-column DNase digestion step is included for genomic DNA removal. Throughput is 1–6 samples, total processing time per run is 40 minutes and binding capacity is up to 40 µg per prep. The purified RNA is suitable for downstream applications including RT-PCR, qPCR and RNA-seq.

Lyophilized RNase-Free DNase is stored at 2–8°C (described as 4°C in the product specifications) and all other reagents and components at room temperature: 15–25°C according to the handbook and 15–30°C according to the product page. Each lot is tested against predetermined specifications under QIAGEN's ISO-certified Quality Management System. The kit is intended for molecular biology applications and is not intended for the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of a disease. It was formerly sold by MO BIO as the PowerWater RNA Isolation Kit.
