RNeasy PowerSoil Total RNA Kit (25)

QIAGEN's RNeasy PowerSoil Total RNA Kit is designed for isolating high-quality total RNA from all soil types, including compost, sediment and manure. The kit is particularly effective with samples that have a high humic substance content such as manure, sediment or compost, and isolates total RNA from up to 2 grams of soil. Inhibitor Removal Technology removes humic substances and other inhibiting compounds, leaving RNA that is ready for RT-PCR, qPCR and other downstream applications.

Samples are processed by bead beating for rapid and thorough homogenization. Total RNA is captured in an anion exchange spin column, washed and eluted, yielding RNA that is ready for use without further handling or purification. Each preparation takes approximately 2.5 hours, with throughput of 1–4 samples. Reagents and components can be stored at room temperature (15–30°C). Note that phenol, chloroform and isoamyl alcohol are not provided and must be supplied by the user. Companion troubleshooting guidance recommends starting with at most 0.25–0.5 g for absorbent soils such as potting soil or peat, while for most soil types the maximum is 2 g. For co-isolation of DNA from the same starting sample, the RNeasy PowerSoil DNA Elution Kit can be used in conjunction with this kit.
