RNeasy Plant Mini Kit (50)

This QIAGEN kit provides spin-column-based purification of total RNA from plants and filamentous fungi. Using silica-membrane technology, the kit purifies up to 100 μg of high-quality RNA per prep in approximately 30 minutes. It handles sample amounts of 10–100 mg of tissue or 100 to 1 × 10⁷ cells, with elution volumes of 30–100 µl.

The binding capacity of each spin column is up to 100 µg RNA, with a typical yield from 100 mg plant tissue of 25–60 µg (up to 65 µg depending on species and developmental stage). The kit includes QIAshredder spin columns for homogenizing viscous plant and fungal lysates by microcentrifugation, working alongside RNeasy Mini spin columns. The chemistry combines guanidine-isothiocyanate lysis with silica-membrane purification, delivering RNA with minimum copurification of DNA. An optional on-column DNase digestion is available for applications sensitive to trace DNA. The kit can be combined with a TissueRuptor or TissueLyser system for sample disruption, and purification can be fully automated on the QIAcube Connect.

Purified RNA is suitable for downstream applications including PCR, qPCR, real-time RT-PCR, and microarray analysis. Supplied reagents include Buffer RLT, Buffer RLC, Buffer RW1, Buffer RPE concentrate, and RNase-Free Water, along with 1.5 ml and 2 ml collection tubes. The kit is stored dry at 15–25°C and remains stable for at least 9 months.
