RNeasy Maxi Kit (12)

QIAGEN's RNeasy technology provides fast purification of high-quality total RNA from cells, tissues, and yeast using silica-membrane spin columns, and is widely regarded as a gold standard for total RNA isolation. The Maxi format enables total RNA to be easily purified from large amounts of starting material, including animal or human cells, animal or human tissues, and yeast cells. The kit contains RNeasy Maxi Spin Columns, Collection Tubes (50 ml), and RNase-free Reagents and Buffers.

The workflow simplifies total RNA isolation: samples are first lysed and homogenized, ethanol is added to provide ideal binding conditions, and the lysate is loaded onto the RNeasy silica membrane, where RNA binds and contaminants are efficiently washed away. For applications sensitive to small amounts of DNA, residual genomic DNA can be removed using a convenient on-column DNase treatment. Pure, concentrated RNA is then eluted in water.

Total RNA prepared with the RNeasy Maxi Kit is of high quality, exhibiting A260/280 ratios of 1.9–2.1 (measured in 10 mM Tris·Cl, pH 7.5), and is suitable for downstream applications including RNA-seq, quantitative real-time RT-PCR, end-point RT-PCR, northern, dot, and slot blotting, array analysis, and Poly A+ RNA selection.
