QuantiTect Virus Kit (1000)

This QIAGEN real-time PCR kit enables highly sensitive detection of viral RNA and/or DNA. The kit combines reverse transcription and PCR in a single workflow, allowing flexible assay design that can target RNA, DNA, or both simultaneously.

At the core is a 5x QuantiTect Virus Master Mix, concentrated and optimized so that larger volumes of template can be added for increased sensitivity. HotStarTaq Plus DNA Polymerase provides a stringent hot start with 5-minute activation at 95 °C, while the QuantiTect Virus Buffer delivers a balanced combination of NH4+ and K+ ions for specific primer annealing. Synthetic Factor MP supports reliable multiplexing of up to four genes in the same tube. The kit also includes a QuantiTect Virus RT Mix containing a unique formulation of Sensiscript Reverse Transcriptase for highly sensitive reverse transcription of viral RNA, plus a proprietary QuantiTect Nucleic Acid Dilution Buffer that stabilizes RNA and DNA standards during dilution and reaction setup and prevents loss of nucleic acids on plastic surfaces such as tubes or pipet tips.

Reactions use sequence-specific probes and are compatible with most real-time thermal cyclers, excluding capillary systems such as LightCycler 1.x and 2.0. ROX passive reference dye is supplied either in the master mix or in a separate vial, depending on the cycler. For optimal amplification efficiency, amplicon length should ideally be less than 150 bp, as shorter amplification products and PCR efficiencies close to 100% are a crucial prerequisite for accurate quantification of target copy numbers in real-time PCR.
