Qproteome FFPE Tissue Kit (20)

The Qproteome FFPE Tissue Kit from QIAGEN is optimized for the extraction of full-length proteins from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues. Using innovative proprietary chemistry, the kit reverses the crosslinking process of formalin fixation to deliver full-length proteins suitable for downstream proteomic analysis.

The kit delivers efficient protein extraction from FFPE tissue using a standardized protocol, with protein yields of 20–80 µg comparable to frozen material. It accommodates sample sizes of 2–3 sections of 100 mm² each from formalin-fixed tissues, isolating a single protein fraction per preparation.

The workflow begins with deparaffinization of tissue sections, followed by incubation in an Extraction Buffer. After centrifugation, extracted proteins are recovered in the supernatant and can be mixed directly with sample buffer for loading onto an SDS-PAGE gel — no extra expensive equipment is required. For automated immunoassays, recovered proteins can be processed on a Simple Western™ instrument for a gel-free, blot-free capillary Western blot. The kit is suited for applications including SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, and mass spectrometry, opening the vast archive of FFPE samples to protein expression analysis and enabling comparative proteomics and biomarker studies using archived pathological samples.
