QIAwave RNA Plus Mini Kit (50)

QIAGEN's QIAwave RNA Plus Mini Kit delivers an eco-friendly spin-column workflow for total RNA purification from cultured cells and easy-to-lyse tissues. Building on established RNeasy silica-membrane chemistry, the kit combines genomic DNA removal through dedicated gDNA Eliminator columns with a procedure that yields highly reproducible RNA of high purity in less than 25 minutes per run. Samples are lysed in a guanidine-isothiocyanate buffer that immediately inactivates RNases, then processed through gDNA elimination, ethanol adjustment, and binding to an RNeasy Mini spin column, with RNA eluted in 30–50 µL of RNase-free water.

The kit supports up to 1 x 10⁷ cells or 30 mg of tissue per preparation and is suited to downstream applications sensitive to low amounts of DNA contamination, including RNA-seq, quantitative real-time RT-PCR, end-point RT-PCR, Northern dot and slot blotting, and microarray analysis. The procedure also enriches for mRNA, as most RNAs smaller than 200 nucleotides are excluded. Processing can be carried out manually or automated on the QIAcube Connect.

Sustainability is built into the design: the kit uses up to 47% less plastic and up to 42% less cardboard than the standard kit, with Waste Tubes made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic that can be reused throughout the protocol, and buffers supplied as concentrates to reduce bottle plastic by up to 90%. No printed protocols are included; users download protocols or scan the in-box QR code, and sterile glass bottles are required to store the reconstituted buffers. The kit is assessed against My Green Lab ACT environmental impact factor labels and shows a 12.2% lower EIF in the US than the standard kit, reflecting the reduced environmental footprint alongside chemistry and performance described as identical to its predecessor. Unopened kits can be stored at room temperature (15–25°C) for at least 12 months if not otherwise stated on the label.
