QIAwave Plasmid Mini (50)

This QIAGEN kit provides an eco-friendlier alternative to the standard QIAprep Spin Miniprep Kit for isolating up to 20 μg high-purity plasmid DNA from bacterial cultures using silica-membrane spin-column technology. The QIAwave kit uses QIAprep 2.0 Spin Columns in a simple bind-wash-elute workflow and accommodates high-copy, low-copy, and cosmid plasmid types.

Can process 24 minipreps in 30 minutes using a microcentrifuge or vacuum manifold, with full automation supported on the QIAcube Connect. Bacterial cultures (1–5 mL for high-copy plasmids; 1–10 mL for low-copy plasmids and cosmids) are lysed and the lysate cleared by centrifugation, plasmid DNA is captured on the silica membrane, and pure DNA is eluted in a minimum volume of 50 µL from a column with an 800 µL reservoir. Performance is identical to the standard QIAprep Spin Miniprep Kit because the underlying chemistry is the same.

The kit is designed for reduced environmental impact, using up to 22% less plastic and up to 14% less cardboard than the standard kit, waste tubes made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic, and buffer concentrates that reduce plastic by up to 93% per bottle. Purified DNA is suitable for downstream applications including PCR, cloning, sequencing (including fluorescent and radioactive sequencing), ligation, transformation, and restriction digestion. In addition to E. coli, the kit can be used to purify plasmid DNA from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Bacillus subtilis, and Agrobacterium tumefaciens, and the QIAprep 2.0 Spin Columns can also be vacuum processed using the QIAvac 24 Plus vacuum manifold.
