QIAseq FastSelect –rRNA Yeast Kit (24)

For rapid rRNA removal in RNA-seq library preparation from yeast samples, the QIAGEN QIAseq FastSelect –rRNA Yeast Kit uses a novel method that prevents cDNA synthesis of unwanted RNAs, depleting highly abundant RNA of low scientific value from RNA-seq libraries. The kit targets cytoplasmic rRNA species — 35S (made up of 25S, 18S and 5.8S), 25S, 18S, 5.8S and 5S — and mitochondrial rRNA species — 21S, 15S, ACI60_gr01 (large subunit ribosomal RNA) and ACI60_gr02 (small subunit ribosomal RNA).

Designed for Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Saccharomyces pombe, the kit also removes rRNAs from related species based on sequence homology. The reagent is combined directly with total RNA and library-preparation-specific buffers with no need for any enrichment step. Routinely, 95–99% depletion of rRNA is achieved in a single, 14-minute inline step. The kit supports RNA inputs from 1 ng to 1 μg and works with fresh, degraded, and fragmented RNA, including material from yeast cells and spores. It is compatible with QIAGEN, Illumina, KAPA and NEB stranded RNA library preparation kits — including QIAseq Stranded Total RNA Lib Kit, TruSeq Stranded, NEBNext Ultra II Directional and KAPA RNA HyperPrep kits — and QIAseq Stranded RNA Library Kits are recommended for robust strand-specific RNA-seq library preparation for both high-quality and highly fragmented RNA.
