QIAseq FastSelect –rRNA Plant Kit (96)

Designed for RNA-seq library preparation from plant samples, the QIAGEN FastSelect technology rapidly removes cytoplasmic, mitochondrial, and chloroplast ribosomal RNA during NGS workflows. The reagent works with 1 ng to 1 µg of total plant RNA input and completes the removal step in just 14 minutes, with the manufacturer reporting removal of up to 99% of unwanted rRNAs.

The product targets cytoplasmic (5.8S, 18S, and 25S), mitochondrial (5S, 18S, and 26S), and chloroplast (4.5S, 5S, 16S, and 23S) rRNAs. It has been validated on Arabidopsis thaliana and Arabidopsis lyrata, with reported rRNA knockdown values across additional plant species including 99% in Arabidopsis, 92% in Barley, 90% in Corn, 99% in Cotton, 93% in Potato, 91% in Rice, 79% in Sorghum, 93% in Soybean, and 94% in Wheat.

The reagent is compatible with stranded library preparation kits from QIAGEN, Illumina, Roche, New England Biolabs (NEB), and KAPA. A simple 1-step protocol combines the FastSelect reagent directly with total RNA and reaction buffers for RNA heat fragmentation, with no additional enzymatic cleanups required. Components are shipped on blue ice or dry ice and should be stored at -30°C to -15°C. The product is intended for molecular biology applications and is not intended for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease.
