QIAseq FastSelect –rRNA Plant Kit (384)

The QIAGEN QIAseq FastSelect –rRNA Plant Kit is designed to remove cytoplasmic, mitochondrial, and chloroplast ribosomal RNA from plant samples during next-generation sequencing library preparation. The reagent is added directly to total RNA and works during the reverse-transcription step by blocking cDNA synthesis of unwanted rRNA, removing up to 99% of plant rRNAs from 1 ng to 1 µg of input plant RNA in approximately 14 minutes. It is compatible with high-quality and highly fragmented RNA and integrates with stranded RNA library preparation workflows from QIAGEN, Illumina, NEB, and Roche.

Targeted species include cytoplasmic 5.8S, 18S, and 25S rRNA, mitochondrial 5S, 18S, and 26S rRNA, and chloroplast 4.5S, 5S, 16S, and 23S rRNA. The kit was designed for Arabidopsis thaliana and Arabidopsis lyrata and has additionally been tested on barley, corn, cotton, flaxseed, maple, oat, potato, rice, rye, sorghum, soybean, and wheat, with observed rRNA knockdown values reported in the handbook. The product is also compatible with other QIAseq FastSelect kits, allowing combined removal of plant and bacterial rRNA in mixed samples.

All components are shipped on blue ice and should be stored in a constant-temperature freezer at −30 to −15°C, where they remain stable, without reduction in performance and quality, until the date indicated on the box label. The kit is intended for molecular biology applications and is not intended for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease.
