QIAseq FastSelect –rRNA Plant Kit (24)

QIAGEN offers a rapid ribosomal RNA removal solution for RNA-seq library preparation from plant samples with the QIAseq FastSelect –rRNA Plant Kit. The kit removes cytoplasmic (5.8S, 18S, and 25S), mitochondrial (5S, 18S, and 26S), and chloroplast (4.5S, 5S, 16S, and 23S) rRNA in a single 14-minute inline step that integrates directly with existing stranded library preparation workflows. The procedure works by inhibiting reverse transcription of rRNA, eliminating the need for hybrid-capture or enzymatic pre-treatment of total RNA. Routinely, 95–99% depletion of rRNA is observed, with the manufacturer reporting up to 99% removal of unwanted plant rRNAs.

The kit accepts 1 ng to 1 µg of total RNA input and is compatible with both high-quality and highly fragmented RNA samples. It has been validated with Arabidopsis thaliana and Arabidopsis lyrata, with manufacturer data reporting rRNA knockdown of 99% in Arabidopsis, cotton, oat, and rye; 94% in wheat; 93% in potato and soybean; 92% in barley; 91% in rice; 90% in corn; 89% in maple; 87% in flaxseed; and 79% in sorghum.

QIAGEN's FastSelect reagent is compatible with stranded RNA library preparation kits from QIAGEN, Illumina, KAPA, and NEB. Components are shipped on blue ice and stored at −30 to −15°C.
