QIAseq FastSelect –rRNA Fly Kit (24)

QIAGEN provides a fly-targeted rRNA removal solution designed to rapidly deplete ribosomal RNA during RNA-seq library preparation from Drosophila melanogaster samples. The QIAseq FastSelect –rRNA Fly Kit removes all annotated rRNAs in RefSeq and Ensembl for D. melanogaster and, depending on rRNA sequence homology with D. melanogaster, also works on additional fly species.

Designed for quick, efficient removal of cytoplasmic and mitochondrial fly ribosomal RNA from total RNA, the reagent integrates into existing RNA-seq workflows as a single, 14-minute inline step. After optional fragmentation, the reaction is stepwise cooled from 75°C to 25°C for 14 minutes, with no need for enrichment on total RNA samples. The reagent works with or without RNA fragmentation, supporting full-length, FFPE, or degraded RNA inputs.

Consistent performance is maintained across RNA inputs ranging from as little as 1 ng up to 1 μg, shifting read allocation from rRNA to genes. The reagent is compatible with QIAGEN, Illumina, KAPA, and NEB library preparation kits, and has been tested with the QIAseq Stranded Total RNA Lib Kit, TruSeq Stranded, NEBNext Ultra II Directional, and KAPA RNA HyperPrep kits. Recommended companion libraries are QIAseq Stranded RNA Library Kits, which use unique dual indexing (UDIs) for multiplexing of up to 384 samples per flow cell lane on Illumina NGS instruments and mitigate index hopping on Illumina NovaSeq and patterned flow cells.
