QIAseq FastSelect –rRNA Fish Kit (24)

Designed for rapid rRNA removal during RNA-seq library preparation, this QIAGEN kit targets total RNA samples from Danio rerio (zebrafish) and Salmo salar (atlantic salmon), removing all annotated rRNAs in RefSeq and Ensembl for these species. Depending on rRNA sequence homology, the reagent will also work on additional fish species.

The kit removes cytoplasmic and mitochondrial fish ribosomal RNA in a single 14-minute inline step, integrating seamlessly with existing RNA stranded library preparation workflows. It is compatible with QIAGEN, Illumina, KAPA, and NEB RNA library kits. The reagent is combined with total RNA and library-preparation-specific buffers, then the reaction is stepwise cooled from 75°C to 25°C for 14 minutes before completing the remaining library preparation steps. No enrichment on total RNA samples is required.

Suitable for RNA amounts ranging from as little as 1 ng up to 1 μg, the kit works with both high-quality and fragmented (FFPE) RNA, with or without RNA fragmentation. Performance testing showed that it removed more than 95% of rRNA from 100 ng of fish total RNA. An intuitive, web-based RNA-seq Analysis Portal integrated into GeneGlobe is included for downstream data analysis.
