QIAseq Beads (10mL)

QIAGEN magnetic beads designed for efficient and precise size selection of DNA fragments during next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation. The beads bind DNA based on size and the bead-to-sample volume ratio, allowing researchers to tune the size range of fragments retained for downstream workflows.

The workflow involves mixing the beads with the sample, incubating for 5 minutes at room temperature, then pelleting on a magnetic stand for another 5 minutes. After discarding the supernatant, the beads are washed twice with 200 µL of 80% ethanol and dried for 10 minutes. Size-selected DNA is eluted and is ready for library preparation steps. The beads effectively remove adapter dimers and other unwanted components, supporting high library purity and yield. Validation work demonstrated reliable results at a 50 picogram genomic DNA input, with bead-to-DNA ratios from 0.5x to 1.5x tested.

QIAGEN QIAseq Beads support straightforward automation on various liquid-handling platforms, reducing hands-on time and batch variability. They are suited to whole-genome sequencing, targeted sequencing, and whole-exome sequencing applications, and when paired with QIAseq library prep kits they enable effective removal of adapter primers for high-quality sequencing data with reduced off-target reads.
