QIAseq 16S/ITS 24-Index I (96)

Adapters and sample indexes from QIAGEN are designed for use with QIAseq 16S/ITS Panels to generate Illumina-compatible libraries for next-generation sequencing. The index kit forms part of a Sample to Insight solution for profiling bacterial and fungal communities by sequencing the 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene and Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) regions on Illumina platforms.

When combined with the appropriate QIAseq 16S/ITS Panels, the index reagents support a 2-stage PCR workflow in which phased primers increase base diversity and quality scores, eliminating the need for PhiX spike-in. The panels use low-bioburden reagents that reduce background contamination and accommodate low DNA inputs, supporting analysis of low-biomass samples. Bacterial DNA inputs can range from 1 pg to 1 ng, and as little as 0.01 ng of fungal DNA can be detected in a background of 1 ng of E. coli DNA. Multiplexing of up to 96 samples on an Illumina MiSeq run is supported using V3 sequencing chemistry at 2x300.

After sequencing, data can be analyzed using QIAGEN Bioinformatics CLC Genomics Workbench with the Microbial Genomics Pro Suite Module, which provides automated FASTQ import, sample library demultiplexing, quality controlled filtering and trimming, OTU clustering, diversity metrics and comparative analysis of microbial profiles.
