Description
A broad-spectrum, subtilisin-related serine protease from QIAGEN, derived from the fungus Parengyodontium album (formerly Tritirachium album). This recombinant 28.9 kDa enzyme is expressed in Komagataella phaffii (Pichia pastoris) and is supplied as a ready-to-use solution at a concentration of 20 mg/mL with an activity exceeding 600 mAU/mL. It is certified RNase-free and DNase-free, and is shipped at ambient temperature. Made in Germany.
The enzyme remains active across a wide range of temperatures and pH values, with optimal activity between 50–65°C and a pH range of 7.5–12.0. It retains stability in the presence of denaturing reagents such as SDS and urea, as well as chelating agents like EDTA, and soluble calcium is not essential for activity. The protease cleaves peptide bonds adjacent to the carboxyl group of aliphatic, aromatic and other hydrophobic amino acids, making it well suited for short digestion times. It is routinely used for the isolation of genomic, plasmid and high molecular weight DNA and RNA, as well as the digestion of structural proteins and chromatin.
Stored at room temperature, the product remains stable for up to 1 year after delivery; storage at 2–8°C is recommended to prolong shelf life.
