QIAfilter Mega-Giga Cartridges (5)

QIAGEN QIAfilter Mega-Giga Cartridges are an optional accessory designed for use with the QIAGEN Plasmid Mega Kit and the QIAGEN Plasmid Giga Kit. They offer an alternative to centrifugation for clearing bacterial lysates, operating with house vacuum to efficiently clear even large volumes of bacterial lysate with minimal effort.

As part of the QIAGEN plasmid purification system, the cartridges work alongside gravity-flow, anion-exchange tips used to purify transfection-grade plasmid DNA. Plasmid DNA prepared with the system is suitable for applications such as transfection, cloning, sequencing, capillary sequencing, and in vitro transcription. The system avoids the use of toxic substances such as phenol, chloroform, ethidium bromide, and CsCl.

Processing is manual and based on gravity flow, employing anion-exchange technology with a throughput of one sample per run. The system supports culture volumes from 3 ml up to 5 liters, yields ranging from under 20 µg up to under 10 mg depending on the kit format, and run times of 80 to 320 minutes. It accommodates high-copy, low-copy, and cosmid DNA types.
