QIAamp Viral RNA Mini Kit (50)

QIAGEN's QIAamp Viral RNA Mini Kit is designed to isolate viral RNA from cell-free body fluids and respiratory samples. The kit uses silica-membrane technology in a spin-column format, with viral RNA binding specifically to the QIAamp membrane while contaminants pass through. PCR inhibitors such as divalent cations and proteins are removed in two efficient wash steps, and pure viral RNA is eluted in either water or the buffer provided with the kit. No phenol–chloroform extraction is required.

With a sample amount of 140 µl and an elution volume of 50 µl, processing is carried out manually by centrifugation or vacuum. Time per run is 20–40 minutes, with yields of >90% recovery. Purified RNA is suitable for downstream applications including PCR, qPCR, and real-time PCR, and the kit is among those used to detect SARS-CoV-2.

Purification can be fully automated on the QIAcube Connect using the QIAamp Viral RNA Mini Kit. The product is intended for viral RNA isolation suited to molecular diagnostic and research applications.
