QIAamp Viral RNA Mini Accessory Set

An accessory pack from QIAGEN supplies additional buffers and reagents for use with QIAamp Viral RNA Mini Kits on the QIAcube instrument, supporting automated viral RNA workflows. The set is intended for molecular biology applications and is not for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease.

All buffers in the set can be stored at room temperature (15–25°C). Lyophilized carrier RNA is stable for up to 1 year under the same conditions and must be dissolved in Buffer AVE before being added to Buffer AL, as described in the QIAamp Viral RNA Mini Handbook. Once prepared, the solution should be used fresh and is stable at 2–8°C for up to 48 hours; unused dissolved portions should be frozen in aliquots at –20°C.

Buffer AVL contains guanidine thiocyanate. Bleach and acidic solutions must not be added directly to waste containing this buffer. Spills should be cleaned with a suitable laboratory detergent and water, and if potentially infectious agents are present, the area should then be treated with 1% (v/v) sodium hypochlorite. When working with these reagents, a suitable lab coat, disposable gloves, and protective goggles should be worn.
