QIAamp RNA Blood Mini Kit (50)

From QIAGEN, the QIAamp RNA Blood Mini Kit provides a fast and convenient method for purifying total cellular RNA from up to 1.5 ml of human whole blood. The procedure uses silica-membrane spin column technology combined with a specialised high-salt buffering system: erythrocytes are selectively lysed, leukocytes are recovered by centrifugation, and intact RNA is isolated under highly denaturing conditions that immediately inactivate RNases.

The kit delivers purified RNA ready for downstream applications including RT-PCR, real-time RT-PCR, cDNA synthesis, Northern/dot/slot blotting, RNase/S1 nuclease protection, differential display, poly A+ RNA selection, and primer extension, while effectively removing common contaminants such as hemoglobin and heparin. Multiple samples can be processed simultaneously in less than one hour, replacing time-consuming methods such as CsCl step-gradient ultracentrifugation and phenol/chloroform extraction. The same kit can also be used to purify total RNA from tissues and cultured cells, and for RNA cleanup after enzymatic reactions.

Purification can be carried out manually or fully automated on QIAcube Connect and the classic QIAcube, both of which are preinstalled with appropriate protocols. The product is intended for molecular biology applications and is not intended for the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of disease. Kits should be stored dry at room temperature (15–25°C) and remain stable for at least nine months under these conditions.
