QIAamp DSP Virus Kit (50),CE

From QIAGEN, this kit is designed for purification of viral nucleic acids from human plasma and serum for in vitro diagnostic use. It uses established QIAamp silica technology, in which a silica-based membrane binds nucleic acids in the lysed sample while the remainder of the lysate is removed by vacuum pressure. The kit enables simultaneous purification of viral DNA and viral RNA.

Viral nucleic acids can be obtained from plasma or serum samples. Samples may be fresh, lyophilized, or frozen (provided they have not been thawed and refrozen) and may contain the anticoagulants citrate or EDTA. Processing is manual under vacuum using sample tubes, and bound nucleic acids are washed to remove contaminants and eluted in a volume of 20 µl or 60 µl. The starting sample amount is 500 µl. The kit is CE/IVD compatible and integrates with downstream detection procedures in molecular diagnostics such as PCR and RT-PCR.

A Class 2 device recall (Recall Number Z-0274-2018) was initiated by Qiagen, GmbH on July 22, 2017, because certain lots could result in decreased performance in analytic workflows. The recall was terminated on July 26, 2018, with 555 units distributed in commerce.
