QIAamp DNA Mini Kit (50)

This DNA isolation kit from QIAGEN uses silica-membrane-based technology to purify nucleic acids from a broad range of sample types, including tissues, swabs, cerebrospinal fluid, whole blood, other body fluids, and washed cells from urine. Genomic and mitochondrial DNA can also be obtained from small amounts of fresh or frozen blood, tissue, and dried blood spots. Mechanical homogenization is not required because samples are lysed enzymatically.

According to the published protocol, 200 µL of whole blood typically yields 3 to 12 µg of DNA, with buffy-coat preparation recommended where a higher yield is required. Carrier DNA is used if the sample contains fewer than 10,000 genome equivalents. The procedure employs QIAGEN Protease together with Buffers AL, AW1, AW2 and AE (or distilled water) for elution, with all centrifugation steps carried out at room temperature.

Standard protocols can be automated on the QIAcube Connect using the dedicated QIAamp DNA Mini QIAcube Kit. The protocols can also be executed with the TRACKMAN Connected system paired with Gilson PIPETMAN M Connected pipettes; the system guides users through each step while automatically adjusting the Bluetooth-enabled pipette settings and generating a comprehensive run report for each protocol run.
