QIAamp DNA Investigator Kit (50)

From QIAGEN, this kit is designed for manual or automated purification of genomic DNA from forensic and human-identity samples, including casework materials such as dried blood, bone, sexual assault samples, swabs, and filters. It is suited for DNA purification from trace samples (for example, those recovered from crime scenes), genotyping including fingerprinting and paternity analysis, and routine analysis of reference samples.

The kit uses QIAamp MinElute spin columns with flexible elution volumes of 20–100 µl, and combines a silica-based membrane with simple processing that yields pure DNA in less than 30 minutes after sample lysis. DNA is eluted in Buffer ATE or water, is free of proteins, nucleases, and other inhibitors, and is immediately ready for amplification reactions or for storage at –20 °C. The procedure is designed to ensure there is no sample-to-sample cross-contamination. Typical yield is under 3 µg, and purification can be automated on the QIAcube Connect.

Downstream applications include real-time PCR and STR analysis, and the kit meets ISO 18385 requirements. The MinElute spin columns included in the kit should be stored at 2–8 °C upon arrival; short-term storage (up to 4 weeks) at room temperature (15–25 °C) does not affect performance, although for optimal performance and quality the storage temperature should not exceed 25 °C.
