QIAamp DNA Blood Mini Kit (250)

QIAGEN's QIAamp DNA Blood Mini Kit uses silica-membrane-based technology for the purification of total DNA — including genomic, viral and mitochondrial DNA — from whole blood, plasma, serum, buffy coat, bone marrow, lymphocytes, platelets, body fluids, cultured cells, swabs and buccal cells. The kit is designed for processing up to 200 µl of fresh or frozen human whole blood, and the QIAamp Mini spin columns can be processed either in a centrifuge or on vacuum manifolds.

The procedure is compatible with blood treated with citrate, heparin or EDTA, requires no prior separation of leukocytes and avoids phenol/chloroform extraction and alcohol precipitation. Purified DNA is eluted in Buffer AE or water, free of protein, nucleases and other inhibitors, and is ready for direct addition to PCR or other enzymatic reactions. Typical product is up to 50 kb in size, with fragments of approximately 20–30 kb predominating, and the spin protocol yields amplification-ready DNA in just 20 minutes. The workflow can be automated on the QIAcube, and purified DNA is also suitable for Southern blotting and for storage at –20 °C.
